How to get to Belfast?

Belfast location

Belfast is situated in the North-East of Northern Ireland. It has a population of just over half a million people. Much of the city centre is now pleasantly pedestrianized, with benches where you can sit and relax, watch the world go by, or even listen to street musicians.

There are two airports serving Belfast:

  • Belfast International Airport is nineteen miles from Belfast at Aldergrove. A shuttle service connects with the city centre, operated by Ulsterbus.
Note - Taking a taxi directly from Belfast International Airport to the University is expensive.

The following companies provide long-distance services to Belfast, including cross-channel routes and Belfast-Dublin:

  • Ulsterbus (UK & Irish services)
  • Bus Éireann (UK & Irish services)
  • National Express (UK & Irish services)

Note - A taxi fare from the bus station to the Queens campus is about £5.00
    .

Rail connections are available from both UK and Dublin.

How to find us at Queen's University?

The Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics is situated on the bottom two floors of the new David Bates Building. The Departmental Office is on the ground floor, in room 0G.006 (just on the right as you enter the building).

The new David Bates Building (7 College Park) is labelled 22 on the Queens University campus map. It is on the main University site, behind the Lanyon Building [pictured above] (1) and the Administration Building (3).
