Mathematics with Finance student Eoin Fleming is showing there is more to him than your average
undergraduate. During his first two years studying in Belfast, Eoin has represented Ireland in Judo all over the world: competing in Rio de Janeiro, Mauritius, Samoa, Australia, Korea and Azerbaijan, as well as training camps around Europe.

Eoin, who is a member of the Queen’s Elite Athlete Programme, said “without the support and flexibility that has been granted to me from Queen’s Sport and the Maths department, I wouldn’t be able to balance the two lifestyles and try to get a good degree whilst at the same time, chase my dream of competing in an Olympic Games- Tokyo 2020 being the main target”.
Eoin came in 5th place at the 2014 Commonwealth games, narrowly losing out to the Gold medallist with 20 seconds to go, and also competed in the first ever European Olympic Games, held this summer in Baku (Azerbaijan).
